Science fiction is one of the most imaginative genres in literature. It often explores concepts of time and space, science and technology, and the consequences of messing with these elements.
You can imagine how expansive this genre can be—it can range from stories that feature slightly advanced societies to ones with technology so advanced, it enters the realm of magic.
And though most of its stories are set in the future, it’s also acceptable to set them in the past or present. Writers are able to combine questions and perspectives from different eras with the level of science they’re trying to convey.

Cole is a blog writer and aspiring novelist. He has a degree in Communications and is an advocate of media and information literacy and responsible media practices. Aside from his interest in technology, crafts, and food, he’s also your typical science fiction and fantasy junkie, spending most of his free time reading through an ever-growing to-be-read list. It’s either that or procrastinating over actually writing his book. Wish him luck!

I love no.9 and have a short story idea based on it… is it OK to write it and submit it to magazines for publication?
