We’re excited to announce the upcoming holiday: National No Pants Writing Day. This exciting and fun National Holiday for authors is coming up May 9th, 2014.
Writers from around the world will celebrate by writing at home without wearing pants. Some brave souls may even wish to write at a local coffee shop, or other common writing venue, to celebrate, although the purpose of the holiday is to celebrate at home.
Why National No Pants Writing Day?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), there were 129,100 writing jobs in the U.S. in 2012. However, there are millions of writers currently unemployed, underemployed or not represented in the BLS statistics for other work-related reasons.
National No Pants Writing Day is a day to celebrate and honor writers for the hard work that they do, many of whom work from home without any real recognition in the labor pool or national statistics.
In addition, there are millions of part-time writers who enjoy writing as a hobby or potential part-time career. We hope the celebration of this holiday will bring more awareness and recognition to all the writers of the world—the employed, underemployed, unemployed, and hobbyists among us.
